Our Story
Canadian rural nurses have long envisioned a national interest group for rural and remote nursing. In 2002, a dedicated group of Canadian nurses took action to bring this vision to life. Over two years, they implemented strategies to connect with rural and remote nurses nationwide, gauging interest and building momentum for a national group.
In 2003, the Canadian Association for Rural and Remote Nursing (CARRN) achieved emerging group status under the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) and held its inaugural general meeting in June 2004. By late 2004, CARRN earned affiliate group status and now proudly boasts a diverse membership from coast to coast.
